Hi there,

Sometimes when we restart some computers (XP with SP2 or windows 2000, both with DLO Agent) we receive that message:

"Failed to authenticate to the Media Server W3PUTNEY as CONTEXTWORLD\user.

The requested resource is in use (0x000000AA)"

We would like to know what's going on with those computers. We already had a look at the support link, but we couldn't find anything.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,

To analyse this problem please answer the questions below:-

-- Any errors has occured in the event logs?

-- Does MSDE instance and AntiVirus software running are running on the servers in question?

-- Is this workstation is in the same domain as the media server or is It in a workgroup?

Note: We also recommend you to upgrade to Backup Exec v 10.0

NOTE : If we do not receive your intimation within two business days, this post would be marked assumed answered and would be moved to answered questions pool.

Hi there,

In the errors event doesn't appear anything at all. We've got running Mcafee Viruscan v.4.5.1 SP1, but i couldn't tell you if it's already running when DLO try to connect to the media server.
The laptops are in a different domain from the server, is that anything to do?

Thanks

Hello CONTEXT ,

The server and the clients must participate in the same domain or in a trusted domain for shared database access.
The VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) media server and any storage locations must be in a Windows domain or Active Directory. Computers running the Desktop Agent can be outside a Windows domain or Active Directory, but they must authenticate with the domain or directory to access the media server or storage locations. Domain credentials will be needed to authenticate.

Refer to this:
Title : Desktop and Laptop Option components must participate in a domain.
