The tape drive is having problems reading data.

Hi,

I'm running Veritas Backup Exec on windows 2000 server, for this week I have observed an alert in the event view detailed below:

"The Tape drive is havng problems reading data, No data has been lost. but there has been a reduction in the performance of the tape".

Would you please help to indicate what's wrong with the tape drive or the tape? how can I fix this problem?

How oftern do you clean the drive?
How old are the tapes?
Are you current on firmware and drivers for the drive and controller?
Do you have some manufacturer diagnostics that you can run against the drive?

Hi,

Actually the drive is brand new one and the tape is new as well.so I don't think the drive needs cleaning yet.
