Good morning Barney,
Whether or not the job would continue past a failed server would depend on what caused the failure itself. For example, if the remote agent service on a remote server stopped for one reason or another, the media server would still be able to connect and backup other servers. Alternatively, if the job engine service failed on the media server, this would prematurely terminate the entire job, and any subsequently scheduled jobs, until the service was restarted.
Obviously, there are many other possible scenarios, I just wanted to explain that there is no definitive answer to your question without further analysis. You may want to call and open a support case so detailed troubleshooting can be performed.
