Unable to attach to \\Remote-PC\System?State.

Media server is Windows 2000 Professional, SP4, BE 8.6 Bld 3878.

Remote Agent PC is XP SP2.

Backup job fails because system state is not backed up--messages are as
follows:

Unable to attach to \\DONNA-C400\System?State.
The device cannot be found.

Exception has been applied in XP SP 2 firewall for beremote.exe.

Also, created "useAdSSCheck" registry value, per Document ID#243898. Neither helped.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Did this once work, and hos now stopped or has it never worked?

simple file sharing has always been turned off from the start as an antivirus requirement. I also checked the forceguest value in the registry and it is already set to 0.

the problem has not always existed but seems to have come about simultaneous with installing SP2 for XP.

Just for grins, turn off the XP firewall and try a backup. If that works, then about all that is left is to open specific ports in the firewall, not just specify an exclusion for BEREMOTE
