Preface:
we have an EMC NAS
we have the tape drive set up on a WIN2K machine.
This is a new installation of Backup Exec.
We have gotten this to work in another office using identical equipment -- no one know how
if i create a job to backup local files it work fine
we have teh remote agent for windows isntalled on the machine with backup exec
Problem:
everytime i try to backup directly from the EMC the job Fails within 2 minutes -- i get the following:
Job ended: Wednesday, October 08, 2008 at 7:46:37 PM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000846b - The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent.
Make sure that the correct version of the Remote Agent is installed and running on the target computer.
Final error category: Resource Errors

Backup- SERVER.DOMAIN
V-79-57344-3844 - The media server was unable to connect to the Remote Agent on machine SERVER.DOMAIN
The media server will use the local agent to try to complete the operation.
Unable to attach to \\SERVER.DOMAIN\PATH.
V-79-57344-33899 - The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent.
*it does not litterally say SERVER.DOMAIN and \\SERVER.DOMAIN\PATH it says what those are
I've tried setting the service credentials to the domain admin, setting the services "Log On As" to the domain admin, I've also tried it as Local System Account -- nothing has worked.
does anyone know what I'm missing?
