Hi Guys
We are planning on upgrading our currentl installation of BackupExec 9.0 to the newer 12.
Can we just upgrade it with no problems? What will happen to the old selection lists, and backup jobs?
According to this document it is not possible:
But what happens with our tapes, selection lists, backup sets, logs etc, if we uinstall version 9 first, and then installs version 12?
All the data from version 9 should be copied to version 12. or?
We need the data for tapes for example, so we still can do a restore, and the tapes will still have to be locked for a certant amount of time.
Is it possible to create a backup of the selection and backup jobs?

You would have to upgrade to Backup Exec 10d before upgrading to Backup Exec 12 if you would like to keep your job information. I have provided the link below to download 10d from our support site.

Thanx for replying.
Is upgrading to version 10 first and then 12 a safe and good way to go?
I looks like the link (ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/) is not working properly. I get an error when trying to open the link, if I am lucky enough to get the content of the folder of the ftp provided, it is empty.

Anything I should be aware of, when upgrading from 9 to 10? A howto somewhere?
Or is it just to run the setup ?

It should be very straight forward.
