Upgrade to 2010 from 12.5

Hello

I just double checking we are upgrading to 2010 from 12.5. Is this just a backup of the database then install the new software on the same server? What happen to all our agents? do we need to purchase new 2010 agents?

I have 3 Windows Backup agents

1 Sharepoint Agent

1 Exchange Agent

1 Linux agent

Regards

Hi there,

You need new license keys firstly so get hold of the licensing department. If you have a valid support agreement, they will give you these keys for free as part of it, otherwise you have to buy them.

Stop the BE services, grab a copy of the Data/Catalogs folders to a different location, and run the upgrade. It's very straight-forward. Once done, run LiveUpdate to install SP1 for BE 2010 R3, and once that completes, run it again to install the additional 3 or 4 patches.

Once this is completed, you can do a push-install from your media server to upgrade the RAWS agents on the other servers.

All jobs etc. will carry across during the upgrade.

Thanks!
