Using BE2014 in Hyper-V

Hello everyone,

I just installed BE2014 in a VM client machine using Server2012R2 and discovered that I am not able to see my USB RD1000 disk from the BE storage. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Do you see USB RD1000 in the Windows Device Manager?

Backup Exec will show the device only if its detected by Windows.

There you go, BE will not show the device untill the VM detects the hardware.

Due to these kind of issues its not rececommended to install Backup Exec on a VM.

In your case the issue is not with BE, its your VM which is not detecting the hardware.

You will face similar issues with BE15 too.

Show up on the Host server, but not on the VM.

...does Hyper-V even support passing that device through to the VM? Otherwise install BE on the Hyper-V host and you shouldn't have an issue.

Thanks!
