Using tapeware tape in backup exec

hy

i'm trying to use a tape that was formerly formatted in Tapeware.

i managed to erase the tape and it is now in the sratched media set.

however i can not format it, because this option is greyyed out.

When i try to backup something to this tape i get the message

"insert writable media into the drive"

any ideas?

Tapes that have been written to using the HP TapeWare application show up as unrecognized media in Backup Exec for Windows NT and Windows 2000.

If you don't want to modify your Backup Server - you could take the tapes to another server with a tape drive and format them with NT Backup.
