Hello. I am using the database snapshot (SQL 2005) backup method in Backup Exec 12.5 (SP1). I have snap shots running every hour and have set the number of database snap shots to keep at (9).
Everything works great! Snapshots are taken and the files by default set to read only. However, what if I do not want my snap shots to be read only? Changing the security permissions on these files is a manual process. I do not want to have to go and set the permissions on my snap shots every hour. I would much rather set a pre/post command in my job setup properties to do this automatically.
Does anyone know the naming convention used by Backup Exec when taking database snapshots of SQL 2005? Or, can you control the name assigned to the snap shot when it is taken? How are you managing your snap shots?
