Hi all,
Sorry, I'm French, i will clearly try to explain my problem.
I try to install a trial version of BackUp Exec 2010 but when installation of SQL express begins, i have an error :
12-17-2010,11:51:25 : V-225-53: ERROR: Failed to install SQL Express BKUPEXEC instance with error 70036. ***To search for information about this error, click here
12-17-2010,11:51:25 : Please review C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt for more details.
12-17-2010,11:51:25 : The return value for Microsoft SQL Express returned error code: 1603
I didn't find this error between topics on Symantec's forum. The log of installation gives :
12-16-2010,12:18:34 : Error initializing shared data
12-16-2010,12:18:34 : ERROR: Installation failed with error 1603. GetLastError = :0

Hi Kevin
1) First try the steps mentioned in http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH128630
2) If the installables are on a network drive then copy it to the local drive and retry
installation. If its already on the local drive then try to install the SQL instance
manually from the BE2010 ISO. Refer to http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH87111

Hello,
Open the Backup Exec installation media (CD / DVD) and browse to \\Install\SQL and install the SQL Express first.
Then install Backup Exec and it will ask you to install SQL Express, that time redirect the SQL to the instance we have already installed and continue the install of backup exec.
hope this helps...

Thanks all.
I tried the two solutions in Symantec's documentation but msiexec.exe didn't run so i can't kill it.
But i find a problem during the installation of SQL Express. A problem in the WMI Configuration of our systems could be the origin of this error.
See for yourself :
The SQL Server System Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the machine PGC-QUAEGEBEUR Error:2147749896 (0x80041008).

Check this microsoft forum discussion. I think the script mentioned in the discussion fixed the issue for some. Some other advices are also present.

Thanks Kiran, i found it too, but i'm in Domain with deployment server and we're not sure but we think we have a WMI gestion during the deployment and it's dangerous for us to force the service with a script.
That's why we have denied access to wmi configuration in local.
We try to learn more things about it and i'll come back to give a solution.
