Hi,
I am running single exchange server 2007 with multiple roles. The exchange 2007 SP1 is running on Windows Server 2008.
When the media server(reside on another server) try to backup the Information store, I received the error
Backup- \\xxx.com\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group V-79-57344-33928 - Access Denied. Cannot backup directory ?Mailbox Database and its subdirectories.
I follow the instruction by commenting out IPv6 and adding record as stated in the document could not resolve the issue.
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/305539.htm
I have also move the resource to the top, as well as test backup only the information store, but it failed.
The backup start, after the Information store has finish backup, it gone into 'verify', then 'running' again, and finally failed.
I tested Backup to Disk and it successed.
Backup Exec 12
installed hotfix: sp2, 309178, 313345

Also the account should have an active mailbox. activate the mailbox by sending an email to the mailbox
If you are not able to expand the legacy mailboxes , either it is credential issue or wrong IPV4 entries.
Did you comment out IPV6 ::1 entry.

Did you try backup to disk? Is it successfull?
Exchange Management Console version should be same on backup and exchange server.
Check credentials
1. Backup Exec logon account should have unique activemailbox. Activate the mailbox of Backup Exec "Logon Account" by sending an emailto his account and accessing the mailbox for this account.
2. Backup Exec"Logon Account" should have Exchange Organization Administrators or ExchangeServer Administratorsrole.
<http://support.veritas.com/docs/288777>
3. Ensure thatthe Backup Exec "Logon Account" being used to backup Exchange is a member ofDomain Administrators
4. Verify that the Backup Exec "Logon Account" mailboxbeing used to backup Exchange is not hidden from the Global AddressList
<http://support.veritas.com/docs/243328>
5. Verify thatthe Backup Exec "Logon Account" being used to backup Exchange is Unique withinExchangeOrganization
<http://support.veritas.com/docs/256537>
6.Verify that the Backup Exec "Logon Account" being used to backup Exchange is amember of Local Administrators Group on exchange server.
Try e2k7_mbox registry key given in below technote to verify credentials.

Hi,
Backup to disk is successful. However backup to tape failed.
If I turn off GRT, I will have no problem backing up the Information Store
http://library.veritas.com/docs/306281
From the document, I tried to change the registry entry and enable the legacy MAPI option for troubleshooting. However, I can't expand the Exchange Mailbox section to show the individual mailbox.
- The Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers is installed on the Exchange 2007 server.
I have uninstall the remote agent and re-push the Remote agent
The Microsoft Exchange 2007 Management Console is installed on the Backup Exec server
Done.
Confirm that the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects are installed on the Exchange 2007 Server.
Verified latest CDO is installed.
Ensure that the Backup Exec "Logon Account" being used to backup Exchange is a member of Domain Administrators
Verified Logon Account is a member of Domain admin
Ensure that the Backup Exec "Logon Account" being used to backup Exchange is an explicit member of the Local Administrators group of the Exchange 2007 server (implied membership via Domain Admins for example may not be sufficient)
Verified it is in local admin group
Verify that the Backup Exec "Logon Account" mailbox being used to backup Exchange is not hidden from the Global Address List.Verified it is not hidden from GAL
Verify that the Backup Exec "Logon Account" being used to backup Exchange is Unique within Exchange Organization
Verified by resolving the name in outlook
Thanks

Hi,
The problem is resolved. I have done:-
a) remove the disable IPv6 registry(this suppose to only be done only on Single role server)
b) reinstall CDO, agent
The media server is running on Windows Server 2003 x64
Thanks.
