Hi,
We have Back-up Exec 2012 SP2 installed on a Windows 2008 R2 Std. Server.
We use this setup to back-up our VMware enviroment but several VM's have Physical Disks. We have excluded these disks in the selection list, however we still keep getting a failure message on the job. How is this possible?
kind regards

Hi,
Symantec's recommendation is to install the RAWS agent on server/s with RDM disks and then back them up as physical servers. See below:

Thanks!

Symantec advises against excluding individual disks form the backup job
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH165214
Having said this, here is a blog authored by one of the customers which seems to have worked for him and a few others. See if there is anything different mentioned in this.

I know what symantec recommends, however when we were working with Back-up Exec 2010 R3 with the same selections and the same exclusions we only got a warning message not a failure. Now all my VMware backups are Failed instead of "Completed with Warnings"
Also we already made the exclusions like stated in

Then Symantec have changed the behaviour around how this is now interpreted. I see you posted previously on someone's Idea, but if that didn't address what you want, create a new Idea for it.
Thanks!
