VMware backup over WAN - Offsite location

We are running 2010 with vmware agent. At present we are doing once a week full backup of VMware machines and now we want to go one step further in our disaster recovery process. In this we want to start backing up these VMware machines to an offsite location We are planning to configure iscsi over WAN and planning to do one full backup of VMware machines onsite then move these NAS to offsite location and then start doing differential backup over WAN. In this we had concern about data transfer over WAN. Can someone who has configured something similar or someone from Symantec throw some more light on the data usage during these process. Thanks,

You will not get satisfactory data transfer rate over a WAN link.  It would be better to backup to some media on-site and then physically move that media off-site.

In case we hv to then we are planning to go for 100 Mbps pipeline between the sites , what we want to know that when 2010 does diff or incremental backup then where the comparison with base image takes place and whether data chattering between off site base image and on site media server will be very high ?

If you're doing weekly fulls, your duplicates offsite, will be FULLS.
If you are using the new incrementals/differentials policies, those will be duplicated as such.

If you use deduplication between two media servers, only the block level changes since the last backup will be sent.  This is the optimum solution.

As teiva-boy said, you would have to do a full backup every now and then.  You can divide the size of your full backup by the theoretical capacity of your WAN line to see if the backup time for the full backup is acceptable.  Your diff or incr will be smaller.
