VSS Snapshot provider errors

Receive numerous 8516 VSS errors on multiple storage groups. Its does not happen everyday but we are backing up a large number of storage groups in exchange 2007 and it does happen. One night we can be sucessful on all storage groups and the next day we they will fail with the VSS error.  We have installed all hotfixes on the media servers and on the clients.

Snapshot provider error 0xE0008516: Resources specified for snapshot do not have any valid data on them. Check if files were deleted or renamed.

Any ideas????

Do you get any kind of event viewer on the exchange server itself about the logs corruptions or anything like that. I have seen that if the database itself has some issues.

Hi Torrence,

Check the TN below. This references the error you are getting when backing up Exchange 2007. The BE versions don't mention BE 2010, but it is worth a look.

Please post back with an update on whether or not this worked...

It also mentions the TN below as the solution...not sure if that is it, but check it out too:

Thanks!

I have no errors in the event log for VSS or VOLSNAPS. I have tried the rebooting of the exchange servers and I still have the issue. It doesnt happen on every storage group however and it doesnt happen everyday. One day I will get the VSS error and on the next day on the exact same database the backup is successful. Two days later after a successful back up I will get the VSS errors again.

I do not see any corruption errors or signals that any of the databases are corrupt.
