Ver 10.0 Service Pack 1 Installation Error

We are running Backup Exec 10.0 for Windows Servers (ver 10.0 Rev 5484). We upgraded from 9.1. During the upgrade we received an error message regarding the catalog. Here is the exact error message:

Database upgrade did not complete successfully. All devices, media and jobs will not be migrated from your prior version.

At the end of the installation we received the following error message:

Catalog Index Database Migration
Fast catalog migration failed due to SQL BCP load failure. The catalog index database will be created when Backup Exec services start. Additional time may be required to view available restore selections. %s\bcp_*.err contains detailed information. Failed

However, the Backup Exec services did start and we simply recreated the jobs and did not take any additional steps to resolve the problem. The upgrade seemed to work correctly after that and we have been running 10.0 for some time without incident.

Today we attempted to install Service Pack 1 (Be5484RSP1_275248) but the installation was not successful. Here is the relevant portion of the bkupinst.log file:

06-29-2005,06:11:36 : Logging: catUpgrade : Upgrading Database Schema
06-29-2005,06:11:39 : Error code=268435455: catUpgrade : fail to CreateProcess for running bcp command: bcp "select * from BEDB.dbo.ImageObjectView" queryout "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\bcp_image_query.out" -c -S RSUMEDIASVR\BkupExec -T
06-29-2005,06:11:39 : Catalog Database upgrade failed. C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\\bcp_out.out contains detailed information.
06-29-2005,06:11:39 : Failed
06-29-2005,06:11:39 : Failure 1 running migration library 20
6-29-2005,06:11:39 : lp_MG_Start failed with error 106-29-2005,06:11:44 : Rolling back stop of BE services.

I found article Document ID 276637 and noted that my error log is not exactly the same. I'm missing the osql error message that would indicate the problem with the Backup Exec database being installed to a remote SQL instance. I was not able to find any exact match to my error message.

I read through several posts and have two possible options to pursue next. The first is to not use Rev. 5484 but to upgrade to the current build of 10.0 Rev 5520. I would run an environment check before the update and see if it lists any possible problems. The second option would be to run a repair on BackupExec and then tried again to install the Service Pack.

Which course would I be advised to pursue? Any suggestions would be welcome.
