When running an incremental-archive bit, all files are backup again.

I run a full backup-archive bit job every month, but when i run a incremental-archive bit backup on our two servers, one server will backup properly with archive bit set but the other server will backup all the files again. I compared the properties of the files on both servers and same configurations. I checked the full backup job log files on the server that's not behaving properly and found the files don't have an A next to the filenames. Supposedly it will have an A next to the filenames. Can someone help me on this problem!!!!Message was edited by:

Hello,

You have mentioned that the other server will backup files again please elaborate the problem.

Please note:
Incremental - Back up changed files since last full or
incremental
- Using archive bit (reset archive bit). Includes only the files that have changed (based on the archive bit) since the last full or incremental backup and resets the archive bit to indicate that the files have been backed up.

The other server when incremental archive bit runs, it will backup all the files that have been backup already. it doesn't reset the files to archive bit to indicate that the files have been backed up. That's why files that was backup before are being backup again.

Hello,

-Please check the technote below:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/190786

-Please check whether you can reset the archive bit manually?

-Try using NTbackup and check if it resets the Archive bit

-If NTbackup doesn't reset there is some other application which is causing this

Please update us the results.
