Which license do I need.

Situation :

One SBS2000 server with veritas backup for sbs 9.1
Backup on ait drive 36/72 gb.

One Win2k3 server with veritas backup exec 10.
Backup on 100/200 gb tape.

One Win2k webserver...no backup (Oooh !)

I'm considering to centralise al my backups to the 2003 server.
So i'd stop the backups on the SBS2000 server and remove the veritas.
And then use a remote agent to backup de c/d drive from the sbs server and the c drive from the Win2k webserver.

Question is, what do I need to purchase extra ?
1 webagent or 2 ?

Thx
Impuls

ps : 50 gb over the network shouldn't be a problem to backup I assume.
(gigabit network)

ps : Or do you guys think I should stick with the backup on the sbs2000, cause i'm using it to backup the exchange as well.

Ideas are welcome.

Hello,

If the media server is the SBS operating system, you would not need an extra Exchange or SQL agent license. Whereas if you are planning to backup the SBS remotely, you would need more licenses.

If you centralize in the W2K3 server, you would need the following v10 serials

1 base
2 RAWS
1 Exchange

I would move the larger tape drive to the SBS server
Then you would need 1 SBS license
and 2 Remote agent license
This would be much cheaper for you.

If you are running SBS Premium, you would need to buy SQL agent, Exchange Agent and a share point agent if you consolidated the backups to the Windows 2k3 standard server.
