Nightly, we partially backup our PCs to tape, and weekly, we fully backup all of our PCs to tape. We've started deploying Windows 7 64-bit PCs, and we are finding that the System State portion of the backups are taking a huge amount of time compared to System State backup on our XP boxes.
For example, on an XP box, the System State backup is taking under 2 minutes. This appears to be typical of our Windows XP boxes. The Windows 7 boxes are taking from between 25-65 minutes to do System State backups.
Anyone encounter this? If so, do you have any suggestions to improve the speed?
Our daily backups include selected folders and the System State.
Out nightly backup includes the full C: drive and the System State.

There is a known issue with the slow backup of Server 2008 R2 system state (See the Known Issue section). Since Win 7 is similar to Server 2008 R2, it could be the same problem.

The issue refered to by pkh should see a performance improvement in BackuP Exec 2010 R3 (due soon)
Also be aware the System State of a Windows 7 box is probably larger than an XP box.
