Are you performing the backups on tapes or on Backup to disk folders? If you are performing backups to tapes,
ensure that you have the latest drivers installed. Check the harware compatibility lists if the device is tested:

- Ensure there are no pending alerts under "Alerts" tab in Backup Exec. If yes, respond to them accordingly.
- Disable removable storage (RSM) service. In most of the cases, it has been seen that VERITAS device driver does not work properly with RSM.
- Ensure that you have selected the correct device and media set in the configured job.
- Disable the device by navigating to "Devices" tab, highlight the device, right click and select "Enabled". This will disable the device.
- Next delete the device using the same procedure and selecting "delete".
- Restart all the Backup Exec services
- Run the device Configuration wizard under Tools> Wizards.
- Create a new job and verify the results.
