backed up domain controller but cannot see ntds.dit

I backed up my dc, c, system state, shadow copy components

however i cannot see the file ntds.dit under c:\windows\ntds

there is nothing in the backup

any idea?

That's right. ntds.dit is automatically excluded. Active Directory data is backed up as part of the Shadow Copy Components.
