backup job fails with hardware error after about 5GB of data are backed up

Backup Exec 10d is the version. I'm able to initate a backup job and it runs for a few minutes but each time I run the job it fails due to a hardware error after about 5GB of data have been processed. The tape drive is a cybernetics LTO1 drive which emulates an IBM Ultrium unit. I've updated the drivers for the adaptec scsi card. I've cleaned the tape drive and tried 4 or 5 different tapes all with thesame results.

- What is the exact error message that you get?

- Do you see any event IDs 5,7,9,11 under the system Event logs? If yes, please let us know the description and the source of this message.

- Did you Update the drivers for the drive? Here the link for the latest Drivers of 10d:
