Bikkel-it

all settings are good as far as i can see,

i have a lot of sets "as seen in file attachment" that are ready to overwritten

does not overwrite.docx

but still my job failes because the disk is full.

now i dont get the error "Low disk space"

but i get the error "access denied" but i get this error because there is no disk space

and it needs to delete a set to continue.

Its seems you are using an older version of Backup Exec. Have you installed the latest SP for the

installed version. Also 50% of the overwritable media is in offline state, try to move the online

overwritable media in the scratch media set.

How is your backup job configured ?
Overwrite or Append ?

You need to configure it to overwrite the media set.

Overwrite period 9 days

and AP = 1 Hours

and i have Service Pack 5 installed

But I mean the job, in your backup job you can also configure append or overwrite.

Could you confirm if only the GRT backups are not being overwritten?

You should be using a normal B2D folder and not a removable B2D folder.  Removable B2D folders are for things like Jaz and RDX drives, not USB drives.

Take note of what Colin Weaver said in reply to your other query, i.e. for your version of BE, .img files does not delete properly.

You should upgrade if this is causing you a lot of problems.

So should i upgrade to 2010 and then it will work on a USB Drive

or should i upgrade and use an internal drive?

You can use both kind of drives with BE 2010.

Note that you would need a new set of licence keys for BE 2010.  You can upgrade for free if you have a current maintenance contract.

can you tell me what i need to have this solution?

i want to have like 1 Terra without replacing the drives

can i use my existing USB dfrive or NOT with BE2010?

can i just use an internal HDD? or do i really need to buy an RDX drive even when i upgrade to BE2010?

the whole idea is that i dont need user interaction, so no replacment of disks, tapes and floppy's and stuff.

we are using an LTO for the data backup already

can you assure me that after this upragrade that i will not have this problem anymore?

Check the HCL to see that it is supported.

BE 2010|2010 R2|2010 R3 Hardware (HCL)

You should also check the SCL to make sure that all your software components are supported.

BE 2010|2010 R2|2010 R3 Software (SCL)

Nobody is asking you to buy a RDX drive.  I am just saying that you should not use removable-B2D folder for your USD disk.

You can definitely use an internal HDD for your backup, but if your harddisk crashes, you loose both your backup server and your backup.

Nobody can give you this kind of assurance.
