Don't know where you heard that. W2K3 requires v9.0.4454 at a minimum see http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/252678.htm

The file you reference is a device driver file, not an update to the BackupExec code itself. The latest driver file is at http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/256251.htm

Thank for you sending me to the correct file. I am happy to report I have successfully backuped and restored data from a Dell PowerVault 745N with MS 2003 server standard edition, running Veritas Backup Exec 8.6..

User Data - maybe, but you will not be able to backup system state so you cannot do a Disaster Recovery restore
