UPDATE:

I have re-installed the newest version of BEFWS. (10.5520)

I have also removed all agents from all servers.
I then updated the BEFWS media server using veritas update.

No updates remain.

I am still unable to communicate with my netware servers.
they are all running the following (from version.doc) :

Backup Exec for NetWare 9.1 Build 1152.4

Media Server = 1152.4
Ndmp Server = 1152.4
Nlm Client = 1152.4
Java Client = 1152.4
Drivers = 0011N020

Windows 9X agent = 5.030
MAC OS X agent = 5.045
UNIX agent = 5.046

OFO NW option = 9.4.401b
RAWS/OFO NT option = 4691R.42

--------------------------
This is what the new media server pushed to the netware server.

I can telnet to port 10000 from the media server to the netware server.

The credentials check and folder selections work.

I still get the following error when I try to backup the server:

Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe0009443 - Error connecting to the Backup Exec Remote Agent for NetWare Servers. Make sure that the Remote Agent NetWare is running on the target computer.
Final error category: Resource Errors

I cant get anything but this ever!

Someone PLEASE help me?
This question has been here for days!

Here is the SGMON dump of the conversation between the server and the media server.

It shows that the agent is there, and connected to, but an illegal argument is passed?!!!

I have just menually installed RANW_278581.EXE

This is the netware agent that was suggested in another discussion that should fix this.
It is :
-----------------------------------------------------

Backup Exec for NetWare 9.1 Build 1158.3

Media Server = 1158.3
Ndmp Server = 1158.3
Nlm Client = 1158.3
Java Client = 1158.3
Drivers = 0011N022

Windows 9X agent = 5.030
MAC OS X agent = 5.045
UNIX agent = 5.046

OFO NW option = 9.4.401k
RAWS/OFO NT option = 4691R.42

-----------------------------------------------------

however, this produced a different error.

this one said:
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly.
Final error category: Security Errors

-------------------------------

I tested the credentials, and they pass.
I have changed nothing in the media server including the login information.

Veritas support, PLEASE reply?

Can you ping the netware server's name and ip address from the media server and ping the media server(name and ip) from the netware server?

is the netware server name and ip address in the host file under winnt-system32-drivers-etc-host on the media server?

Hello Lenny & Michael;

I am having this problem as well. Run BUE 10 w/ SP1 on W2000 box, was having problems backing up a new W2003 box. So I applied BUE Hotfixes 30, 9, and SP3. Reinstalled NW RA's (as recommended in HF 30/Doc ID:278466) on our NetWare 5.1 boxes. Both full & diff NW jobs started failing @ that point, "RA not detected". Found & followed Doc ID:275065; didn't help. Found & followed Doc ID:278581, didn't help but did change the error to "Access is denied to RA". Resource Credentials/Test All was successful. A link in the Job Completion Status steered me towards Doc ID: 277422; figured what the heck & followed that one too. Still getting "Access is denied to RA". Now I'm at a loss as to how to continue - and getting VERY NERVOUS about the NetWare boxes. I can ping the media server from the NetWare boxes, and I can ping the NetWare boxes from the media server. And both the NetWare boxes IP addresses are in the Hosts file on the media server.....

HELLO SYMANTEC - IS ANYBODY OUT THERE?????? CAN YOU HELP US WITH THIS???? This Support forum is moderated by Symantec, isn't it? I sure do miss Veritas. When you could send them an e-mail and get a HELPFUL response the next day. Those were the days....

I can indeed ping all the servers in question from all the server in question.

What else can I do?
