compression ratio of tape

1. For autoloader backup, the tape properties in BE2010, the compression ratio is accurate to one decimal place. Is the compression ratio accurate to two decimal place in BE15?

2. The compression ratio of the cartridge can be 2.1:1 ,but in the Slot details in Storage in BE 15 , the compression ratio is 1.06:1 or 1.05:1 . How to increase the compression ratio so that the tape can backup more data?

1) Afaik, compression is displayed in terms of ratio and not decimal

2) Can't really control the amount of compression. BE justs sends a command to enable or disable compression. Also, 2.1:1 is a ratio which is very very rarely achievable in real life. Lots of data types do not compress really well such as media files, archives etc.

Compression ratio is dependent on the type of data that you back up. It cannot be changed. See my article below https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/compression-short-explanation
