device and media service doesnt start

The backup exec device and media service on my server fails to start. The event viewer lists event ID 7023, and the description is "the backup exec device and media service terminated with the following error: The database specified does not exist." I looked this error up on veritas.com and found that the mssql service needs to have the same login criteria as the backup exec services. The mssql service does not exist on my server. Is this error in fact related to the mssql service, and if so, how do I insall the mssql service? Thank you

Ensure that the BackupExec services account is a part of Domain Admins and Local System Account.


The Backup Exec Job Engine service may not start because of the MSSQL$BKUPEXEC service not started. BE Job Engine service is dependent on the MSSQl$BKUPEXEC service.

Hence if the BE Job Engine service does not start the BE Remote Agent service will not start.

To resolve the issue we request you to refer the following:

We request you to update the latest MDAC and Microsoft JET components from the Microsoft website.

Further download the "Component Checker" utility from the Microsoft site to check if there are any mismatched files.
