disable VSS?

Hello!

I use backup exec to back up the snapshots of my SAN. The SAN creates a snapshot and mounts it to the backup server. Then Backup Exec writes the snapshot data to tape.
This works pretty good actually. But there is one little issue on that that I would like to change:
The job always completes with exceptions due to the fact that the mounted snapshots don't allow VSS. The message is: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/318007.htm

In the backup job advanced open file option is disabled.
Why does Backup Exec still try to use VSS? Is there a way to tell Backup exec not to use VSS in this job? I cannot set the volumes to allow Shadow Copies because they are created newly every day.

Thanks in advance

Check Tools --> Options --> Advanced Open File and make sure Use Advanced Open File Option is not selected.
If it is, deselect, and try the job again.

Laters!

Ich checked it - the Advanced Open File Option under Options was not selected.

Cool...have you tried to do what that tech article suggested?
To my knowledge, BEWS would always try to use some sort of snapshot technology for backups.

I cannot do what the article suggests because my drives are deleted and created newly every day. I doubt that Windows will apply the settings to the drives every day.
