e000035f - The SQL Server backup interface has reported a problem. Further details can be found in the job log. Restarting the SQL Server service or the server may correct the problem. This is a nightly problem that has been going on for ages now. There is also a SQL 2005 instance on the server and this gets backed up fine so what gives to the SQL 2000 instance? The service has been started a few times but no luck. Are there any other logs that will tell me why this is happening?

Hi,

I found this link on another forum:

Might be of some interest.

Which version of BE are you using, and what is its patch level?

Best bet now would be to log a call with Symantec. There doesn't appear to be much information on this particular problem.

This appears to be an issuewith sqlvdi.dll on the SQL server which is the interface that we use for backups. Please check following document from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323602
Also, is this 64 bit SQL server? if yes, following document would be useful:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=913100

Thanks
