e00084f4 error when writing to tape

I see some past threads on this error in regards to B2D but I'm seeing it when we try to write to tape.  Just started happening about a week ago.  I've tried going to B2D then tape and straight to tape and both spit on this error after roughly 5 minutes.  Also says to checkout V-79-57344-34036 but that doesn't seem to help either.  Any advice?

our problem was solved by removing the windows updates that were dated sept 29, 2008.  Since then the tapes have been working once again.
