email notification problem (back up exec 10d)

Greetings!!

I am new here this forum!!

hope I meet great people here and share all knowledges.


here is the problem I got for the start.


we use Backup Exec 10d (10.1)  Rev. 5629 SP 4 on Windows Server 2003 STD.

It doesn’t send job notification emails.

Testing to send an email notification under Person Recipient Properties works fine.

Is there anything else that I need to check up on the Exchange or the Backup Exec ?

It might help with more specifics: are you popping/exchange etc???
Are you able to telnet to the smtp server from the backup exec server? if you are unable to telnet then most likely problem is that port 25 is blocked.

Make sure the server name is listed in dns and use the full name of the server - servername.domain.xxx
Also, is relaying allowed on the smtp server for the backup server?

Does your SMTP server require authentication ???

i simply deleted recipients and recreated them and now it is working.
i don't know why and not sure this would be the ultimate solution.
my impression is that this problem would happen again later because this problem happened suddenly without reason.
