general information needed about catalogs

Hello,
I'm a newbie to BackupExec 11d.  I have backups running successfully but I'm confused about catalogs.  I know the server creates catalogs for each backup job, but after reading the documentation I'm still unclear as to weather I need to so something manually to create/move/whatever the catalog for each backup job.  The documentation in the Admin guide didn't seem to give thorough information about catalogs.  I need some general info about using them, when to create/modify/whatever the catalogs, etc.  Is there any general info around on the forums or the Symantec website?

You shouldn't need to do anything with the catalogs.  They are created with every backup job and are expired on there own depending on time.  If the catalog does get expired you can create a new one if you need to by just re-cataloging the tape.  You may want to move them to another drive that has more free space.  You can do this from the Tools - Options - Catalogs menu.
