harware cmpression failed after running veritas update

Compression failing after running Veritas update. Neither hardware nor software compression works. System is W2000 SBS using seagate DDS 4 tape drive. and adaptec 19160 scsi card. I have swapped the hardware out with new versions of same equipment and loaded new and tried older drivers as well, with no effect. Back up job stops at 20G with a 20/40 tape. The same back up job with 32G of data compressed 1.52 to 1 before this problem now .998 to 1 . Also the format option for tapes is now grayed out.

Hello,

Please see the technote below for more information on h/w compression:

Backups fail to get double the amount of the native capacity recorded to a media, even when hardware compression is being utilized.
