I run the back up job daily used Backup Exec 9.1 for windows server. Before the job start, the database will shut down and then start up after the job complete. But now I want to change the setting that users can access the database and read data during the back up job, how can I do this ? Or any solution.

Hi,

As you have written "Before the job start, the database will shut down and then start up after the job complete"..it means you used take offline backup of your Oracle Database running on Windows.

But now if you want user can access the databse while backup is goin on,you need to purchase a Oracle agent in order to perform online database backup.

Please refer the Technote given below :
*Check the compatibility List for Oracle Databse

To get a "Hot" backup you need to purchase and install the Oracle Agent

Alternatively, you could run a dump job to dump the Database to disk, then grab that with a flat file backup.

DO NOT try to use AOFO to backup active databases. It is not designed for this, and while it may indicate a successful backup, you probably will not get a usable database if you have to restore.

Hello Wong,
As stated explicitly before you would need to install the oracle agent in order to leave the database operational during backup
OR
Dump the database to disk and do a flat file backup.
Please revert with any further queries if any.
