need to accomplish simple tasks BE2010

Hello,

I installed BE2010 on the new server and want to accomplish simple tasks that did 3 years ago with BE11 and 12.

I am asking because will have a very little time for this on next visit of remote site.

I did a test. BE can see the tape drive and I actually back upped some data on tape.

I need :

1. to  create a new set

2. catalog and add new tapes to the set

3. disable override protection ( I guess this was a bit tricky, because it was in 2 or 3 places)

4. configure notifications - add e-mail addresses

Please provide the path to appropriate menus and right order for necessary steps.

Thanks,

Michael.

Here are the steps to perform the task.

1. to  create a new set (I assume this is to create new MEDIA SET)

-Go to Backup Exec console and go to Media tab

- Right click on Media Set and select New Media set to create new media set

- Here you can selected the Overwrite Protection Period and Append period as per your requirement

2. catalog and add new tapes to the set

- Insert the tapes in the Robotic Library.... or the tape drive if its is a single standalone tape drive

- Go to Devices tab in BE console

- Right click on Slots (if its robotic library) .... or the tape drives (if its single) and run Inventory job

- Ones the Inventory of all the tapes are completed then we will Catalog the tapes only if there is already some data backed up on the tape. Catalogging will not be required if the tape is brand new

- To Catalog the tape right click on Slot and run the Catalog job..... for single tape drive right click on the tape drive and run the Catalog job

- After this is done check the Media set in which the tapes are present. Select the Medias in the Media set and drag them in the new media set that is created in the point (1)  above

3. disable override protection ( I guess this was a bit tricky, because it was in 2 or 3 places)

- When you move those tapes to the new Media set that is created in the above point, then all the tapes will have the Overwrite Protection period of the Media set that you have chosen

- It will not have the Overwrite protection from the previous settings

4. configure notifications - add e-mail addresses

To confiure email notification (MAPI/ SMTP)  please refer to the following technotes:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO12075 : Configuring SMTP for email or mobile phone text message notification

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO22873 : Configuring MAPI email for notification

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO22846 : Sending a notification when a job completes

Hope I have provided all the required clear information

Thanks,
