I am very new to BE.
I am getting an error
while doing inventry or backup test run.

Hello
Check the status of the device may be its offline or in use.
In BE console click on Tools->BE services and then restart all the services.
After restarting the service try inventory and backup job again.

Hi,
Check if operating system detects backup device.
reboot the server, when possible, and check if POST detects backup device
Verify if RSM - Removable Storage Manager, is stoped and disable
Check cables, and terminator.
Reinstal last symantec tape drives, patchs...
Run inventory again and a job

same issue once rebooted the server problem got resolved

Make sure there is no Tape stuck in the drive and the removable storage service is stopped .
