" incompatible storage media detected in robotic library"

I have a Certance CL 400H Ultrium 2 drive in a Dell Poweredge 2500 running Windows 2000 with Backup Exec 9.1. Every time I try to run an Erase, Label Media or Inventory on a tape, I get the following error.

Job started : Friday, July 01, 2005 2:01:41 PMJob ended : Friday, July 01, 2005 2:01:48 PMFinal error: 0xa000821e - Library error - incompatible storage media detected in robotic library.
Final error category: Backup Media ErrorsCompleted status: Failed

I have tried everything I can find in reference to this problem and nothing helps. I have read Document ID: 258269
http://support.veritas.com/docs/258269 , but the information in this article does not help. This drive is not a robotic library. It has no barcode reader.

I have patched Backup Exec to Service pack 2, and redownloaded and reinstalled the Veritas drivers today (7/1/05). I still get the same message.

I have 3 tapes that work fine when I do a regular backup job on them. Any new tape put in the drive though it will not recognize the tape and calls it . Running one of the Label, Erase, Inv jobs on ANY tape will give the mentioned error.

Does anyone have any suggestions as how to finally rid myself of this problem? I have no doubt it is just a configuration error, but I am at a loss as to where to look now.

Hi,

Please perform the following steps:

1) deactivate and delete the device in Backup Exec by right clicking on the device.

2) Restart all the Backup Exec Services.

3) Run the Device configuration wizard. It can be found under Tools> Wizards.

* Check for Event Ids 5s, 7s, 9s, 11s, and 15s that may occur on system startup, or during backup.

* Is the device connected to a RAID controller? If yes, ensure that it is connected to a SCSI controller instead. Refer to the following document:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/191488

Hope it helps.
