restore data from expired tape

I need to restore a file from a tape that was used 6 months ago.  The retention period is only for one month.

Is there a way I can see what is on this tape so I can restore a file?

Move the physical write protect tab across on the tabe (best practice if you need to restore to avoid accidental overwrite)

Then put the tape back in the drive/library and inventory and catalog it

If the retention (or rather overwrite protection) was only for 1 month, highly possible the tape may have been re-used.

You can run an inventory and catalog to view the contents of the tape.

thanks for the info.  I'm sure this will work.  The tape has been on the shelf for 6 months.
