restore from catalog instead of media

we lost your server this morning am  restore last last tape which is corupt can i restore from the catalog instead(silly question)

Hi,

No you cannot. Your catalog contains details like what is on the tape, where it belongs etc.
It is a simple *.xml file. You will need to restore from your last backup on tape. If need be, you'd have to recatalog your tape, assuming the server you lost this morning was also your backup server.

Sorry The catalog only contains an index to the data on the backup media, either tape or disk
