Client is running BEforW 9.1 Small Business on a MS-SBS2k3 server. Two days ago their report was showing the following...

Final error: 0xa00084f2 - An attempt to write data base end of media has failed.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Hello,

1. Please check whether the device is "tested" in the compatibility list.
If yes then please install latest veritas drivers from the link below:
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/273853.htm

If not then please install the latest OEM drivers

2. Please check the device configuration with the help of the technote below:

How to troubleshoot issues with a Robotic Library or Tape Drive in Backup Exec 9.x and 10.0

3. Please check whether the service removable storage media is running if yes please change the start type to manual

4. Please check for any event id 9 or 11 if there are any then please contact hardware manufacturer for more details on this

5. Please try taking backup on a new tape and then verify the result.
