DBX and Auto Correct hang DLO at a retry status

Hello,

We are using DLO 7.0 on our back server which is Win2003 R2. Our Desktop users vary from XP to Win7. We also have a variety of email apps; Outlook Express, Outlook 2003, 2007, and 2010.

Our issue is we are trying to collect incremental backups. We are constantly getting errors, that *.dbx file failed to copy to the desktop user data folder. Or that whatever folder inside Outlook Express (ie. inbox) is "open" is stuck at a "retry" state until the user closes OE or moves to another folder. We are also seeing this same issue with Win7 users and Outlook 20xx Stream_Autocorrect_*** will stay at retrying until the mail program is closed then the outlook.xml file will be backed up.

My question is; is there a way to ensure incremntal backups on these programs? Is the VSS option good to use (It didn't seem to do anything that I could tell) since it says it is only for .pst files.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Matt

With DLO 7.0 VSS enabled PST backups can be done which is a recommended backup method for the PST.

For doing the successfull back of PST with incremental option do the following.

In the profile properties select the PST file and go to modify. In the Options tab select the option of Delta File Transfer.

In the Profile properties go to Options tab and there you select the VSS option for the PST file backup

Make sure the profile changes have been delegated to the DLO Agent and run the backups.

Do you really want to backup the *.dbx files? What kind of files are they.

Try this. Exit the DLO Agent on the system showing this problem and then delete .settings folder from..\Symantec\DLO and launch the DLO Agent and see if that helps.

.dbx files are the store files for Outlook Express which yes we need to back up. Is there a way to make incremental backups of Outlook Express?
