Adding new Ex2k3 server t0 8.02 (Sanity Check)

Hi, sorry if this is rudimentary but not having done the original EV install just want some sanity check as I've only supported the existing infra. & didn't do the orgiinal install so I am parsing the install-config guide.

we are adding a new Ex2k3 SP2 server to the org. EV server (8.02) remains the same. All on Windows 2k3 Sp2 systems.

I have created system mailboxes for the new ex2k3 serverrs & created new archive tasks to associate those mailboxes. Also followed guidance here http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/exchange-2003-enterprise-vault-80-sp2-process-move-mailbox-an... to set the SynchInMigrationMode dword key to 1.

However, I notice on the original Exchange server (not my install) there was a OWA folder with a bunch of wscript files for backend/frontend config. I dont see this mentioned in the Setting up Exchange Server Archiving pdf in the doc folder. Is there any EV installation (OWA extension? ) I have to run on the backend server?

Thanks

You will need to update the ExchangeServers.txt with the new IP's of the Exchange Servers on the EV server and re-run the script owauser.wsf
on the EV Server as well.

I don't have my old v8 files readily available, but yes, there is an install you'll need to run for OWA to install the OWA extensions on the Exch2003 back-end server.  You'll find the instructions in the Installing and Configuring Guide, under Exchange OWA.

This is all covered in the Setting up Exchange Server Archiving pdf

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH72611 - Chapter 9 covers configuring OWA access.

Also - here is the landing page for all of the 8.0 manuals -

thanks Chris. I've run the 2k3 extension with each subsequent upgrades but just wasn't sure & was confused by the makebackendserver.wsf file as I thought perhaps there was a different msi to run that I was missing.

I did check the pdf & all it talked about was installing OWA 2k3 extension on front/backend. Just a sanity check. thanks
