Backup EV closed partitions without putting in backup mode

Dear all,

We have more than 10 tb of data to be backup from Symantec NetBackup flash method. (volume level backup)

As per our last experience it took around 8 to 10 days to complete the backup. We are planning to take closed partitions backup without putting the indexing and partitions in backup mode.

Later on we will keep open partitions in backup mode. Please let us know if this will work.

Hello Mayu,

If you have closed partitions, and you do NOT use Storage Expiry, it should be relatively safe to backup the closed partitions only once every month or even longer.

In my environment, we backup only the open partition, and the last closed partition daily.

The longer closed partitions are backed up only every 6 months. As we do not use Storage Expiry, the closed partitions do not change. There is therefor no need to back these up every day, or even week.

If however you do use Storage Expiry, you will have to make more regular backups of the closed partitions also.

As a closed partition is no longer written to, it should be ok to back these up, even when they are not in backup mode. Backing up open partitions without having backup mode set is not an advised step.

Regards. Gertjan

Well , You should put it in Backup Mode to take a backup. May be you go one by one I mean you  can put one in backup mode and then backup
