Behavior of "move to" button in Mail form

Hello forum,

if you want to move a shortcut in outlook you basically have three ways of doing so:

  1. Drag-/Drop the shortcut in the desired folder
  2. Right Click the shortcut and select "move"
  3. Open the Mail and select "move" from the buttons on the mail form

Interesting though that 2 and 3 behave differently. Option 2 moves, as I would expect, the shortcut to the desired destination folder. Option 3 however does NOT move the shortcut but seems to restore a copy of the archived item(!) into the destination folder. The shortcut remains at its place.

Are there any good reasons for this behavior or is there any way to change it?

The reason is that option 3 operates on the "recalled" version of the e-mail item, and not on the shortcut. This behaviour is expected, and I'm not aware that this can be changed.

This of course makes sense, I did not think of this.

Thanks for the hint!

Is this a particular version of EV? Is it in Outlook?

Hi Rob,

yes this occurs in outlook. I was able to successfully reproduce this under OL2003 and OL2010 with the EV9.0.2 client.
