Bulk restoring from client side?

Hello all

My company uses Enterprise Vault (not sure which version) together with MS Outlook on Windows XP computers.  What I would like to do is export some of my personal email folders to a .pst file, so that I can import them to my laptop at home.

However, a lot of my emails are archived.  My IT helpdesk tells me that they will not 'bulk unarchive/restore' the folders for me, and that I will have to manually unarchive/restore my emails (using the menu option in MS Outlook).  The problem is that I have a *lot* of archived emails.

So I would like to know if there is a way for me to speed up the process rather than sit there (for hours!) restoring each email manually.

Thanks in advance.

Really all you can do is go through each folder and restore them individually.
some things you can do to help sort by the message class so that you group the items by IPM.Note.EnterpriseVault and select them and hit restore
Another thing you can do is do an Advanced Search, and then on the advanced tab, search by all mail fields , message class then search for Contains "EnterpriseVault"
from the search result, move all the results to a folder and hit restore, so that its all in one place

You could also use http://yourEVServer/EnterpriseVault/Search.asp and then use shopping baskets to restore messages but that has its limitations
honestly though, the most efficient way is for your help desk team to either export to a PST or give you something else such as Vault Cache or Offline Vault to help you out.

Though really you need to determine why the company uses Enterprise Vault, as the companies goals and legal goals may be at odds with the employees goals, but required none the less, especially since one of Enterprise Vaults primary facets is to eliminate PST's, and if you get your items back in to a PST and then they enable PST imports, you'll end up with duplicate items
