Client Driven PST Migration Packet Size

rouute

we have that pesky pst chunk out of sync while migrating the pst files via client driven. SP4 will automate the "work around" but as of right now Symantec has no idea what is causing this.

So can anyone tell me what the packet size is for the pst files as they are bieng chunked and set over the WAN?

thanks

by the way, there has been a technote around this for some time, though its obviously just the same information that you know about from the support call you opened up, but anyway.

i dont know off the top of my head as to what the packet size would be, im pretty sure thats more to do with how your network card is set up?
i suppose you could do some netmons or wiresharks to get a better understanding of your network utilization

as for the causes of the out of syncs, i think there is a pretty solidly understanding as to how this issues been occuring, as well as the fixes for sp4

the cause is unknown - otherwise I wouldnt have a dedicated ticket open on it and the fix is a work around to the manual reg hack.

well there are issues that people have to open tickets on all time, for known reasons and unknown reasons
some problems can be harder to understand and troubleshoot and some issues can be almost impossible to pin point

but i can tell you this issue has been around for a while unfortunately, but the cause is known (at least to symantec hence the fixes in SP4)

they dont know the cause - the fix is just automating the work around in that tech note, the problem will still occur with SP4 per the prod manager.

well from my time working as backline for symantec and enterprise vault, i was always under the impression that it was a combination of either network issues or outlook being closed or crashing and ASPX files on the EV/IIS server not recovering gracefully from the interruptioon

but if the workaround has been automated to the point of needing know user or admin interaction, then thats a good thing
