We have Enterprise Vault 9.0 and we are moving it's data from one data domain disk appliance to another data domain disk appliance.
My question, to minimuze downtime, what is the best way to copy the files over? I have used Robocopy in the past, but these files are active most of the time.
Besides the copying, should I need to know of any pit falls?
Thanks,
Kwinter

I assume you are talking about moving the vault store partitions and the DVS data and not a file share that EV archives through File System Archiving?
As long as you're familiar with this document, you'll be ok

I think robocopy is fine, but really you will want to try and keep it in read only mode, and if you have collections enabled or migration to secondary storage , you will definitely want to stop those processes from occuring.
Plus you will need to make sure that you update anything in the watchfile tables or anything that has the physical path in the database, otherwise you will get errors when EV attempts to find those items and says that they don't exist, because they're pointing at something like \\oldStorageServer\Enterprise Vault Stores\ as opposed to \\newStorageServer

Could you put the system in Backup Mode, take a backup of the Vault Store and then Restore it to the new location.

doesnt DD have it's own storage replicating abilities that you can leverage to get your data from the old device to the new one?

Great ideas, I'm going thru the TECH35742 now and see how to implement.
