DA8 with EV2007SP6

I'm looking at installing DA8SP4 in an environment where the EV-servers are 2007SP6. This is possible according to the documentation (and experience ;-))
I am however unclear about a prereq.

On the DA-server to be used, can I use the DA8.0 API, or do I need to install EV2007SP6?

I am leaning to using the API, but I am not able to find an answer to the question if that will work or not?

Anyone?

Just install the EV 2007 sp 6 binaries.  The versions of EV must match.
