You could try this:

"Failed to perform the search request" when using Archive Explorer, Browser Search and Integrated Search

Details:
Overview:
This error may be caused when Anonymous access is enabled in the EnterpriseVault virtual directory in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. Event ID 7263 is also generated in the Event Viewer log.


Solution:

1. Open IIS Manager on the Enterprise Vault server.

2. Locate EnterpriseVault under Default Web Site, right-click EnterpriseVault and select Properties.

3. Select the Directory Security tab.

4. Select Edit in the Authentication and access control area.

5. Remove the check from Enable anonymous access.

6. Verify Integrated Windows authentication and Basic authentication are both selected.

7. Click OK twice.

8. Right-click Default Web Site and select Stop.

9. Right-click Default Web Site and select Start.

It may be worth logging a support case or uploading a client trace for us to have a look at when they are trying to retrieve an item via Archive Explorer

Could you explain the problem?  Did you mean to say users are unable to view items in Archive Explorer?

Please explain any errors you see and does AE work in Internet Explorer?

Yes, Users are unable to view items in Archive Explorer.

After opeing Archive Explorer through Outlook.. in Left pan after selecting the Inbox. in right pane Error Shows "Failed to perform the Search Request"
