Deleting a folder in the Vault

Hello All,

We have configured EV 9.02 with no policies for auotmatically archiving of items. The users do move items they want to archive manually to the Vault.

A user selected by mistake "the store in Vault" icon for some mails in the inbox. EV automatically archived these messages from the Outlook inbox and created a folder "inbox* in the vault. We could move back the items to the Outlook inbox, however EV doesn't let us delete the folder "inbox" in the Vault. Obviously the folder is now linked.

Is there a way to delete the folder "inbox" in the Vault?

I believe, the way is to delete the folder in Outlook, which release then the folder to be deleted in EV as well. But the problem is here, it's the inbox folder, which cannot be deleted in Outlook.

Any hint or workaround is appreciated.

Thank you

Edy

pay attention to the notes in Manish's link:

2. For EV 8.0 and up the functionality has changed again (due to Vault Cache).  It will be at least 32 days before the items are truly 'deleted' from the database and a folder can be deleted from Archive Explorer using this method.

3. The registry setting DeleteEmptyFolders set to 1 only to 0 automatically when the processing completes.  The value will need to be set to 1 again for the process to run and remove the empty folders. If doing many deletions, consider adding a process to set the registry value to 1 in the nightly backup scripts.

and for what it's worth, i have never seen this work.
